Flaw in Microsoft JPEG parsing
Posted by Florian - Wednesday September 15 @ 23:14
Cat: BugsA major security hole has been found in a bunch of Microsoft's software. As a result of a bug in the JPEG-rendering engine it is possible to craft a JPEG-file that, when viewed in a vulnerable
application, creates a buffer overflow permitting it to execute code on the victims pc.
The flaw affects Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Office XP, Office 2003,
Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1, Project, Visio, Picture It and Digital Image Pro.
Microsoft has released a patch to fix this bug.
